Prior to founding Scarlett Hydraulics in 1984, and after gaining his diesel mechanic qualifications in his home town of Timaru, Paul spent time in Australia where he worked in the agricultural, forklift and motorsport industries. On his return to New Zealand he specialised as a mechanic in the marine sector, mainly on deep sea fishing vessels, where his passion for hydraulics grew.

 He has an enthusiastic hands-on approach to all aspects of the business and is a self confessed lifelong learner having undertaken ongoing training with leading hydraulic companies.

Paul's knowledge in service, fault finding, and system design comes with over 40 years experience and his innovative approach to problem solving is second to none.

In his spare time he plays tennis, skis, competes in Motorsport and enjoys fishing and the outdoors.
